*How does it work?

We have taken by way of example, an average contractor's use of their skid steer at 250 machine hours per year, assuming on mixed terrain - both off-road clay/mud/topsoil, and some time spent on asphalt pavement, and based on observations and experiential data for each tire model have determined how many years' worth of service the tire is likely to provide, and therefore what the per year cost is when considering the purchase and installation price for a set of 4.  We have not factored in repair costs down-time and loss of productivity which surely are also factors to consider when buying "under" - purchasing tires below one's actual needs and the additional costs there that will be incurred.  What you pay today in new tires is rarely the real cost when all factors are counted in.
So depending on what your actual usage requirements will be in terms of hours of machine time per year, how hard your operators are on machinery, what kind of jobsites and terrain you are running on, etc, your per year costs may be greater or less.  We hope this guide assists you in your decision.
Tip: Spend more and pay less!
It's true - with skid steer tires it is definitely always better to spend more now, at time of purchase by buying the best tires you can so that they last the longest possible, and thereby you pay less in the end.  Consider the actual cost of ownership with regard to your tires (see box to the left), and when you factor the life of the tires over the purchase price: the better the tires you buy, the longer they last, and the less they cost per year over the time you own them.  You can conservatively drop your costs from $700 or $800 per year down to $200 a year, or less, for your set of 4 tires per machine!

In air-filled tires (pneumatics) this is as far as it goes - there is nothing else available in a skid steer air-filled tire that is better, more durable, more indestructible, available on the market.  The next step would be to get into a solid tire - contact us for pricing - we stock used (from about $100/tire) and can next-day get in new for you (starting at approx $600 per tire).  Or for no-flat performance with one of the above tires consider foam-filling - at approximately $200-300 per tire additionally for the foam-fill process.  Contact us for details.
